Maintenance Team Manager – Fleet – €68K
Purpose of the job
In the fleet maintenance department, the Maintenance Team Manager is a manager position and is accountable for delivering the daily LRV maintenance. He / She manages a team of technicians during a shift where he must drive performance of the workshop. He respects delay, quality and safety to ensure the availability of the fleet.
Responsibilities -The Maintenance Team Manager’s accountabilities are the following:
Team Management:
- Organising the shift with the available technicians to achieve the plan produced by the daily planner.
- Ensuring the production of the day is done, by regularly monitoring the activity of the team and giving clear short-term production objectives to each team member.
- Making decision on priority by adding or removing work from the plan relative to headcount and/or resource availability.
- Participating to depot meetings with the other MTM, the daily planner, the fleet coordinator and the Head of fleet to review KPI, staff issue, training, budget, company situation, etc.
- Leading Start of shift Brief, Mid shift Brief, End of shift Brief by following the depot managers’ guidelines.
- Organising a team meeting once a month / twice a month to manage the team : KPI, staff issue, training, company situation, etc.
- Realising a clear handover for the next shift by using the company’s tools.
- Ensuring the communication with the team: procedure, safety, staff issue, new HR rule, paper to sign, etc.
- Ensure his team apply the safety rules inside the workshop (PPI, LOTO, workwear, etc.).
- With the Depot Manager, managing the basic Annual Leave and Absence tracker of the team in line with HR process and recording the data required in the IT systems (transit 9, CMMS, etc.).
- Managing absenteeism and performance issues in line with HR practices for the team.
- Providing support across the business where and when needed.
- Participating to the MST’s development in the depot, including technical and personal development, overseeing annual reviews for all the team members.
- Leading Quality survey of all paperwork and work orders: properly filled in and completed.
- Participating to recruitment interviews to determine the future team members.
- Ensuring the onboarding process for each new team member and the clear follow-up during the probation period.
Workshop layout and Tools
- According to the daily activity, preparing the depot layout of the tram on each Workshop Lane and each Stabling Lane to ensure the team’s efficiency.
- Working closely with the control room to manage Tram movements in the workshop and allocating resource on it.
- Collaboration with Infrastructure on works to be planned and modified to meet the business needs.
- Ensuring a start-of-shift and end-of-shift status routine to avoid safety issue, ensuring complete tooling and a clear and tidy workshop.
- Assisting in controlling asset calibration.
- Drafting purchase request for tooling, PPE and workwear in line with the company’s rules and yearly budget.
- Proposing lean project to get a better shaped workshop, tidy, with hight efficiency.
- Follow the project manager in charge of developing this project.
Tram Maintenance
- Tracking the daily maintenance on tramways.
- Ensuring the daily routine maintenance, exam, modifications, reliability project, overhaul program are done correctly by respecting work instruction and delay and communicating with the daily planner.
- In relation to the km management, the tramways Out of service and the daily maintenance program, organising the Daily Service Sheet for operations by using the company’s IT systems.
- Responding to the Control Room questions in terms of tramway availability and first aid on trouble shouting.
- Keeping the control room up to date on necessary information to deliver excellent Luas service on the network.
- Reviewing all the defects and assigning a priority (P1 to P4) when required.
- Making decision on whether a tramway can be put out into service.
- When necessary, opening corrective work order and filling in all the details required.
- Closing corrective and preventive work order when the work is done.
- Coordinating and overseeing contractors performing maintenance activities on the fleet
- Ensuring the response and control to any tramways’ related Accident / Incident online.
- Proposing to the Depot Manager technical improvements on fleet that could lead to an Engineering study.
Parts & Supplier
- Ensuring a great historical record of serial number to get a perfect maintenance tree: drag and drop, record historic of parts, etc.
- Stores parts picking when the store is closed and when store assistants are missing.
- Giving the Feedback on price, cost to repair or to subcontract to ensure the Depot Manager the best and final decision.
- Putting part into the repair loop after filling the form .
- Ensuring the welcoming of a supplier to fix a tramway, a part or realised work in the workshop.
Maintenance Management and expertise
- Driving continuous improvement in operational and technical aspects of LRV maintenance dept.
- Providing documentation to the team in order to do a preventive task or to help in trouble shooting.
- Contacting the Fleet Coordinator to help in providing this documentation.
- Following depot processes, work closely with the Process Manager so as to improve the maintenance processes and procedures and assisting in the review of the liability matrix.
- Guiding the team on a technical issue by sharing the technical skills.
- Sometimes realising maintenance works on tramways to help the team. Managing online intervention to secure the team intervention.
- Analysing daily and weekly KPI to measure the performance of the team and get the appropriate action to improve the team’s efficiency.
- Performing audits required by O&M contract, safety or internal criteria to get a higher performance.
- Interacting with engineering, safety procurement, stores.
Other accountabilities
- Remote depot control and set up (if there is no manager in the other depot)
- Close interaction and integration with operation, and especially the control room staff

Details Working hours: on shift 7 days a week, Night and day following roster (39h/week contract)
On-call and emergency: On-call or emergency out of work are to be considered 1 week per month. An on-call planning will be help with the other MTM and the depot manager.
Work location: the job will be in one of the 3 depots. Travels on the 2 others, from time to time, are to be expected.

Experience
- Technical or Business qualification.
- Minimum five years’ experience working in a technical company
- Management/supervisory experience is a plus
- Strong working knowledge of Irish Health & Safety and Environmental legislation .
- Knowledge and experience of Tram systems (or other rolling stock) is recommended.
- ICT skills with good knowledge of maintenance management system, MS Office
- Experience of working in a manufacturing, maintenance environment on a shift basis.
