We are reminding everyone travelling on Luas to treat Luas staff with the basic courtesy and respect we all deserve.

Luas staff are dedicated to keeping Luas running and you safe as you get from A to B. They also often go above and beyond to help when needed or to do something kind to make your journey a little more pleasant. Reuniting customers with lost property, acting quickly to prevent serious incidents, and going out of their way to give a helping hand are just some of the reasons Luas staff receive commendations from grateful customers. We ask that in return you treat them with respect and cooperate with them – you never know when you may need their help.

While most customers treat Luas staff with respect, sometimes customers can take their bad day out on our colleagues. Everyone should be able to work without being subjected to abuse. Luas staff are no different. Treating others how we wish to be treated is the golden rule of respect. For many of our colleagues, their workplace is the Luas network – Luas trams and platforms. Like anyone else, Luas staff, including Customer Agents, Security Officers, Drivers, and Customer Service staff, deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect in their workplace.

We remind everyone travelling on Luas that staff are just doing their jobs by checking your ticket, or asking you to stop doing something which could put your safety or the safety of others at risk. Racial, verbal, and physical abuse are not acceptable at any time. Any aggressive or inappropriate behaviour towards staff will not be tolerated.

Luas staff will continue to work daily to get you where you need to go, and to keep you safe while travelling. We remind Luas customers that we all have a part to play in keeping Luas safe, pleasant, and enjoyable for all. Remember: a little kindness goes a long way.
